Ciri- ciri penyakit ” Busuk Batang Pisang ” atau ” Layu Fusarium ” adalah, pelepah daun berwarna kuning, kering (Jw : kelaras ) mudah patah, batang berair, busuk, layu, buah pisang kering, akhirnya mati.
Penyakit ” Busuk Batang Pisang” mudah menular.
Jika tidak segera ditangani, tanaman sebelahnya akan terjangkit. Penyakit tersebut cepat menular dari tanaman satu ke tanaman yang lain.
Untuk mengatasi penyakit tersebut, di sekeliling bonggol pisang ditabur garam dapur jenis grosok, pupuk kapur ( dijual di kios pertanian ).
Jika hal tersebut tidak berhasil, jalan paling aman, batang pisang yang terserang penyakit segera ditebang. Batang pisang yang telah ditebang dikumpulkan dan dibakar. Mengingat penyakit ” Busuk Batang Pisang ” mudah menular, sabit yang digunakan untuk menebang pohon pisang yang terserang penyakit ” Layu Fusarium ” jangan digunakan untuk menebang, memangkas pelepah pisang yang sehat, agar pohon pisang yang sehat tidak tertular.
Selanjutnya, tanaman yang terkena penyakit ” Busuk Batang Pisang ” diganti dengan bibit pisang yang sehat.
