HIMPUNAN Masyarakat Tani-Nelayan Indonesia (Himtani) Sragen menyosialisasikan atau memperkenalkan tanaman porang kepada petani di Sekretariat DPC Himtani Sragen, Selasa (4/5/2021).
Widodo (35), petani porang yang dikenal dengan nama Al asal Sumber Mulyo, Desa Kedung Waduk, Kecamatan Karangmalang, Kabupaten Sragen memaparkan cara memilih bibit porang yang baik, menanam, merawat, serta mengolah tanah supaya menghasilkan porang yang maksimal.
Al bercerita, dirinya pernah rugi selama dua tahun, karena belum mengerti cara menanam porang dan mengolah tanah.
“Kalau sekarang saya sudah memahami semua. Alhamdulillah, satu porang ada yang beratnya 5 kg,” ujar Al sambil menunjuk salah satu porang yang ditaruh di meja.
Al menjamin, pemasaran porang setelah panen tidak ada kendala, karena di wilayah Kabupatn Sragen khususnya, sudah banyak pabrik pengolahan porang, termasuk pabrik sejenis di daerah lain.
Ketua DPC Himtani Sragen Suhadi berharap, dengan sosialisasi ini petani bisa memilih bibit porang yang baik.
Menurut Suhadi, lahan untuk penanaman porang di Kabupaten Sragen ini cukup luas.
“Yang penting, saat panen ada pembelinya. Soal lahan tidak usah khawatir, karena porang bisa ditanam, baik di lahan basah maupun lahan kering,” beber Suhadi meyakinkan.
Sosialisasi porang diikuti perwakilan petani dari berbagai kecamatan yang ada di Kabupaten Sragen, namun terbanyak dari Kecamatan Kedawung dan Karangmalang.***
