PERNAHKAH? kamu membayangkan tentang kampus yang mana seorang mahasiswanya bebas memilih jalur pendidikan mereka masing-masing? Mereka akan memiliki kebebasan penuh untuk memilih mata kuliah, merancang kurikulumnya sendiri, bahkan dapat memilih tempat kuliah di berbagai perguruan tinggi? Inilah wacana yang menjadi sorotan belakangan ini dengan konsep “Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka”. Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) merupakan program pendidikan yang diperkenalkan oleh pemerintah Indonesia dengan tujuan untuk membagikan keleluasaan kepada mahasiswa dalam memilih mata kuliah serta memajukan potensi diri di luar kurikulum formal mereka. Program ini bertujuan untuk menaikkan kualitas pendidikan tinggi, memberikan kenyamanan dalam pendidikan, dan meningkatkan daya saing lulusan di pasar kerja. Namun, seiring dengan implementasinya, beberapa pertanyaan muncul mengenai efektivitas MBKM. Dalam artikel opini ini, kita akan mengeksplorasi beberapa aspek MBKM dan sejauh mana efektivitas program ini dalam mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan.

Kebebasan Memilih

Dapat diketahui salah satu keunggulan utama MBKM adalah memberikan keleluasaan kepada para mahasiswa untuk memilih mata kuliah yang mereka minati di luar bidang studi utama mereka. Hal ini membuat mereka mendapat kesempatan untuk mengeksplorasi minat dan bakat mereka, serta memperoleh banyak pemahaman tambahan yang tidak mereka dapatkan melalui kurikulum tetap. Kebebasan ini juga memungkinkan mahasiswa untuk membaurkan pengetahuan dari berbagai disiplin ilmu, yang dapat memperbesar pemahaman mereka tentang isu-isu kompleks yang dihadapi dalam dunia nyata. Dalam hal ini, MBKM dapat dikatakan berhasil dalam memberikan kebebasan akademik kepada mahasiswa.

Peningkatan Keterampilan

Selanjutnya,  MBKM juga mendorong mahasiswa untuk memperluas keterampilan tambahan di luar kurikulum formal. Dengan mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, mahasiswa memiliki kesempatan untuk memperoleh keterampilan seperti kepemimpinan, komunikasi, kerjasama tim, dan keterampilan lain yang penting dalam dunia kerja. Peningkatan keterampilan ini dapat memberikan keuntungan kompetitif bagi mahasiswa ketika mereka memasuki pasar kerja yang semakin kompetitif. Oleh karena itu, dalam hal ini, MBKM dapat dianggap efektif dalam mempersiapkan mahasiswa untuk tantangan masa depan.

Kolaborasi antara Perguruan Tinggi dan Industri

Salah satu tujuan MBKM adalah memfasilitasi kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi dan industri. Melalui magang, proyek penelitian, atau keterlibatan dalam startup, mahasiswa dapat mengalami dunia kerja secara langsung dan membangun jaringan profesional yang berharga. Namun, tantangan yang dihadapi dalam implementasi program ini adalah kurangnya keterlibatan aktif dari sektor industri. Banyak perusahaan masih belum sepenuhnya terbuka untuk berkolaborasi dengan mahasiswa, atau tidak memiliki mekanisme yang efektif untuk melibatkan mereka. Untuk meningkatkan efektivitas MBKM, penting bagi pemerintah dan perguruan tinggi untuk menjalin kemitraan yang kuat dengan sektor industri, memastikan kesesuaian antara kebutuhan industri dengan program pendidikan yang ditawarkan oleh MBKM.

Kekurangan

Bukan menjadi rahasia umum lagi bahwa, MBKM ini merupakan program baru. Sehingga program ini dinilai belum memiliki persiapan yang matang. Tidak hanya itu sistem pendidikan dan pengajaran MBKM masih harus mengulas upaya dalam peningkatan kualitas pendidikan yang di anggap cukup problemetik.

Evaluasi dan Perbaikan

Untuk memastikan efektivitas MBKM, evaluasi secara berkala penting dilakukan. Pemerintah dan perguruan tinggi harus memantau dan mengevaluasi pencapaian tujuan program, termasuk keberhasilan mahasiswa dalam memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan tambahan, peningkatan kualitas pendidikan, dan peningkatan daya saing lulusan di pasar kerja. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tersebut, langkah-langkah perbaikan dapat diambil, termasuk peningkatan kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi dan industri, pengembangan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang relevan, dan penyediaan sumber daya yang memadai untuk mendukung program MBKM.

Kesimpulan

Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) menawarkan potensi besar dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia dan mempersiapkan mahasiswa untuk masa depan yang kompetitif. Kebebasan memilih mata kuliah, peningkatan keterampilan, dan kolaborasi dengan sektor industri adalah aspek-aspek positif dari program ini. Namun, tantangan seperti kurangnya keterlibatan industri dan perlunya evaluasi yang terus-menerus harus diatasi agar MBKM dapat menjadi efektif dan memberikan manfaat yang maksimal bagi mahasiswa. Dengan melakukan perbaikan yang tepat, MBKM dapat menjadi landasan yang kuat bagi pembelajaran yang inovatif dan relevan, yang menghasilkan lulusan yang siap menghadapi tantangan masa depan.
