KABUPATEN Kendal tahun ini bakal memiliki Gedung Perpustakaan Daerah yang berada di Kelurahan Karangsari, Kecamatan Kendal.
Peletakan batu pertama pembangunan proyek dilakukan oleh Bupati Dico M Ganinduto bertepatan dengan Hari Jadi Ke-416 Kabupaten Kendal, Rabu (28/7/2021).
Dana pembangunan gedung berasal dari Dana Alokasi Khusus (DAK) sebesar Rp 10 miliar.
Bupati Kendal Dico M Ganinduto mengatakan, konsep bangunan gedung mengusung tema “The Light Library”, yang terinspirasi dari asal nama pohon kendal yang artinya bercahaya.
Dengan “The Light Library” ini, perpustakaan ini diharapkan dapat mencerahkan masa depan sumber daya manusia Kabupaten Kendal.
“Nantinya akan terus dikembangkan agar banyak memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat, khususnya untuk meningkatkan literasi masyarakat Kendal untuk bisa membaca, belajar, dan bekerja yang lebih baik,” ujarnya.
Dikatakan, desain gedung dibuat secara modern dan ikonik, sehingga memberikan ciri khas bagi Kendal.
Dengan konsep gedung yang terbuka, sehingga akan mempermudah sirkulasi udara dan memaksimalkan pencahayaan sinar matahari, serta hemat energi dan menyesuaikan konsep era new normal.
“Gedung ini dengan desain yang modern dan ikonik,” katanya.
Plt Kepala Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan (Dinarpus) Kendal Achmad Ircham Chalid mengatakan, gedung perpustakaan ini dibangun dengan dua lantai di atas tanah seluas 4.606 meter persegi. Luas bangunan lantai I seluas 1.152 meter persegi dan lantai II seluas 932 meter persegi.
Terdiri atas ruang baca umum, ruang baca digital, ruang diskusi, ruang baca lansia, ruang pameran, ruang baca anak, ruang podcast, serta dilengkapi dengan musala, ruang baca referensi, ruang pustakawan, ruang pertemuan, dan ruang audio visual.
Perpustakaan ini juga ramah disabilitas, serta dilengkapi co-working space sebagai ruang kreatif generasi muda Kendal.
“Kami akan tambahkan koleksi e-book, karena jumlahnya masih kurang. Untuk fasilitas, seperti ruang audio visual dibuat seperti mini bioskop, supaya menarik bagi milenial untuk datang ke perpustakaan,” jelasnya.***
