DI tengah pandemi Covid-19, yang menyebabkan aktivitas normal masyarakat terganggu, termasuk aktivitas masyarakat yang ingin berwisata, PT WSI selaku pengelola objek wisata Pantai Cahaya, Kabupaten Kendal memunyai kabar gembira, khususnya mengenai konservasi dan pelestarian satwa.
Manager Operasional PT WSI M Iqbal mengatakan, pada 5 Desember 2020 telah lahir seekor anak burung kakatua jambul kuning di PT WSI.
“Alhamdulillah lahir seekor anak burung kakatua jambul kuning. Kakatua merupakan salah satu satwa yang menjadi prioritas pengembangan di PT WSI,” kata Iqbal dalam konferensi pers, Kamis (17/12/2020).
Iqbal menjelaskan, kakatua jambul kuning (Cacatua sulphurea) ini termasuk salah satu satwa yang dilindungi, sesuai Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Republik Indonesia Nomor P.92/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/8/2018.
Disebutkan bahwa pengembangan konservasi ini menjadi amanat undang-undang dalam upaya pelestarian satwa.
“Kelahiran ini tidak sertamerta, namun kami memiliki program khusus untuk breeding atau pengembangbiakan satwa,” ungkapnya.
Laporkan ke BKSDA
Atas kelahiran kakatua jambul kuning, pihaknya berencana melaporkannya ke Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Jawa Tengah, agar tercatat resmi dan menjadi perhatian serta berita bahagia untuk masyarakat umum.
Sementara Humas PT WSI dr Vian mengatakan, beberapa program breeding yang dilakukan PT WSI sudah menunjukkan hasil, seperti lumba-lumba, linsang, landak jawa, cocktiel, ringneck, dan kakatua mini.
“Alhamdulillah pada Juni 2020, kami telah selesai membangun laboratorium hewan dengan berbagai fasilitas lengkap di dalamnya,” jelasnya.
Perwujudan visi perusahaan PT WSI adalah menjadi lembaga konservasi berbasis penelitian dan pengembangan bertaraf internasional.
“Program tersebut merupakan bentuk kesungguhan dan keseriusan kami untuk tetap berpegang teguh terhadap amanat UU, terutama mengenai konservasi,” tandasnya.
Pihak manajemen PT WSI terus memberikan imbauan kepada masyarakat yang berkunjung ke Pantai Cahaya untuk selalu mematuhi protokol kesehatan di masa pandemi dan menaati protokol kesehatan yang sudah dianjurkan pemerintah.
“Marilah kita tingkatkan pola hidup sehat dan mari bersama-sama memutus rantai penularan Covid-19. Ayo wisata ke Pantai Cahaya,” tutur dr Vian.***
