DINAS Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) Kabupaten Sukoharjo membuat terobosan pengelolaan sampah dengan pengembangan budidaya larva lalat Black Soldier Fly (BSF) atau maggot.
Kepala desa dari lima kecamatan yang memunyai volume sampah tinggi mengikuti Sosialisasi Pengolahan Sampah dengan Budidaya Maggot di Lantai X Gedung Menara Wijaya, Senin (27/9/2021).
Maggot dimanfaatkan dalam pengelolaan sampah organik, lantaran mampu mengurai secara cepat sampah dalam jumlah besar. Untuk itu, setiap desa diminta untuk membuat pengelolaan sampah dengan mengembangkan maggot.
Kepala DLH Sukoharjo Agustinus Setiyono mengatakan, pengembangan budidaya maggot ini sebagai upaya mendukung pengurangan sampah pada sumbernya serta meningkatkan kualitas lingkungan hidup, khususnya dalam bidang pengelolaan sampah.
Agustinus menjelaskan, budidaya maggot bertujuan untuk meningkatkan peran serta masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah, mengubah perilaku dalam mengelola sampah, dan mendorong gerakan memilah sampah mulai dari sumber sampah.
“Untuk saat ini pengolahan sampah dengan budidaya maggot sudah dilakukan di Desa Makamhaji, Kecamatan Kartasura,” ungkapnya.***
